Get to Know the Albion Hills Community Farm Staff
Jim Rutten – General Manager
Jim brings to Albion Hills Community Farm an extensive background in community-based development work, municipal sustainability planning, social enterprise development and operations, and fostering innovation in food systems, farming and community health. He grew up working on his family’s farms in South-Western Ontario and later went on to found and manage a not-for-profit worker co-operative farm in Nova Scotia, which focused on providing employment skills to youth at risk, strengthening food literacy, and improving local food access for lower income pre and post natal families. Jim’s efforts and leadership have been recognized with national, provincial and regional awards including the Government of Canada, Rural Secretariat’s Young Leader in Rural Canada Award for Innovation.
Amy Darrell – Community Garden Co-Ordinator
Albion Hills Community Farm is excited to have Amy Darrell as part of its team. A long-time resident of Caledon, Amy has over 10 years of experience working with community organizations in Caledon that focus on sustainable living, conservation, food security and local agriculture. Amy is an avid gardener who is devoted to engaging others in Caledon’s food system . Amy is passionate about healthy sustainable food so when not at the garden, you will find her at the Palgrave Community Kitchen.
