2014: Week 9
“Salutations CSA members!
It’s another glorious week on the farm and the gardens are bursting. It’s
hard not to smile walking the pathways lined with sunflowers, zinnias,
gladiolas and edible nasturtiums. The bees and other pollinators love the
flowers. If you would love some fresh flowers too please come on out to
the farm and we can show you can find them. Also on the you-pick list
this week any peas you can find and more mouthwatering cherry tomatoes,
really the cherry tomatoes are dripping off the plants please come get
them!
On the picked-for-you list we have head lettuce, kale, eggplant, peppers,
tomatoes, cucumber, zucchini, salad turnip (not to be fooled their name
they are also delicious cooked) carrots, cilantro, dill, parsley, brussel
sprout leaves, beans and pac choi. That’s right pac choi is here again and
ready for your salad, soups and stir fry’s. See some recipe ideas below.

Also here is an interesting recipe for zucchini tortillias that I have yet
to try but looks delicious.

If you decide to try it please let me know how it goes.
If you are stumped with what to do with your eggplant and zucchini try this:

Now after you’ve tried some of these scrumptious recipes and are looking
for a good work out, come on out to the farm! We are, as always, still
looking for volunteers. Specifically this week for volunteers that would
be interested in helping harvest our potatoes. Thanks to a great group of
volunteers from the youth corps we got them weeded a second time last week
and we are excited to dig them up. It truly is a treasure hunt.

Well I think that is it for this week. Thank you again for your continued
support and for choosing to eat conscientiously.
See you in the garden,
